At the end of 18th century, Maharaja "Sawai Madho Singh ji" (a Ruler renowned for his enlightened administration) built Lal Mahal Palace. Indeed it was the hunting lodge and a forest retreat of the former rulers of Jaipur. The mansion is painted with lime based red color (a characteristic of the region) as it name indicates.
