ROYAL ENFIELD TOUR OF KERELA

Duration :-13 nights/14 days

Destinations:TRIVANDRUM-KOVALAM-KUMARAKOM- Alleppey- Cochin- Munnar- Kodaikanal- Vandanmedu- Thekkady-Kovalam

Day-01: Arrival Trivandrum

Arrival at Trivandrum airport and meet with our representatives who will transfer you to Kovalam hotel for check-in. Later in the day, introduction to your bike and a quick briefing about your journey.

Day-02: Kovallam

Full day free to explore the beachside town of Kovalam. Spend your day relaxing at the beach, indulging in Ayurvedic massage or just riding around the town in your Royal Enfield to get familiarized with your bike and the roadways. A typical South Indian dinner at a local restaurant followed by overnight stay.

Day-03: Kovallam to Kumarakom

Ride a few hours to reach Kumarakom, and put up at a House boat. Later, indulge in all forms of facilities including Yoga & Meditation classes as well as a walk in the lush green surroundings of the place. After a nutritional lunch, enjoy the clsssical music and dance programmes performed in the open air theatres. Overnight stay at the houseboat.

Day-04: Kumarakom to Alleppey

After a leisurely breakfast, the group of Enfield riders will head towards Alleppey, the famous Backwaters of Kerala and take a private boat to cruise along the area, savoring the canals, lakes, innumerable coconut trees, villages and rural life devoid of all modern amenities, yet charming beyond measure. Dinner and overnight on the Houseboat.

Day-05: Alleppey to Cochin

Set off north for a 10km ride which will take your to Cochin and upon arrival transfer to a hotel overlooking the harbor with its room facing the sea. Wander around the fascinating city, with the “Bike caravan” halting at a 16th century synagogue, the oldest church in India and an impressive fort. In the evening proceed for the boat cruise along the harbor with a chance to spot the Dolphins.

DAY-06: COCHIN

Ride to the local markets to shop its popular handicrafts, textiles, souvenirs and antiques. The sightseeing continues with visits to palaces and museums. Enjoy a Kathakali dance performance at Cochin Cultural Center. Watch the extensive make-up applied on the artists that may take 3 to 4 hrs. to complete. Dinner at a local restaurant serving traditional delicacies.

DAY-07: Cochin to Munnar

Morning drive up into the hills, covering a distance of 150km in about five hours. The drive will pass through long straights, sweeping bends dropping into verdant valleys and shady tropical forest. Arrive at Munnar located at an altitude of 1500m above sea level, and ride through its thick tea plantations and plain ghats.

DAY-08: Munnar to Kodaikanal

Leave behind Nilgiri range and ride to the spectacular Palani hills, crossing the plains on the way. This all-day ride can be regarded as the best of the journey, with it passing through scenic hilly areas, picturesque lakes and lush green landscape. Situated 2100m above sea level, it is advised to wear warm clothing during the ride.

Day-09: Kodaikanal

Set off to explore Kodaikanal, a popular hill station best viewed by just walking around the scenic area. Visit its historical architecture, go trekking in the rough mountain range and have nature walks in the forest. Other options include boating on the picturesque lakes or visiting the botanical gardens.

Day-10: Kodaikanal to Vandanmedu

Morning spent in riding to Vandanmedu located 175km away which will take around six hrs. Drive the vehicle through scenic surroundings leaving behind plains, cardamom plantations, forests and backwaters. Upon arrival at Vandanmedu, transfer to the hotel located deep inside the village. Just relax at the pool, indulge in spa/ massage and talk away the evening in front of the open fireplace.

Day-11: Vandanmedu to Thekkady

Get ready for a real twisty ride stretching 100 km that will test your Enfield riding skills and get to Thekkady, famous for housing countries largest national park- The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Ride through the mud-roads of the town and visit its busy market so full of life. Later in the day take a boat ride on the lake accompanied by a naturalist which passes through the sanctuary and observe its wildlife from close quarters.

Day-12: Thekkady

Full day free to explore the area. Visit the wildlife sanctuary or just relax enjoying sips of wine at the hotel. You may also opt for a night safari into the reserve, considered more suitable to spot the animals who venture out mostly in the dark.

Day-13: Thekkady to Kovalam

After a leisurely breakfast, set off for the longest drive of the journey back to Kovalam, halting on the way for lunch and on few other occasions, when the view of scenic surroundings proves too good to resist.

Day-14: Trivandrum for Departure

Morning transfer to Trivandrum airport and board flight to your onward/return journey with memories that will last forever.
